GENE CLARK GROUP
Biography, discography & family tree

If Gene Clark had hoped that the time after the BYRDS would give him more time to write songs he soon recognized that this was not true. He formed a group to play some concerts. Even though that group never recorded, there is one song from this time which Gene Clark had recorded as a demo. Chip Douglas added the bass guitar and the harmony vocals in 1995 "much in the style I would have if Gene and I had recorded the song together in 1966." Chip Douglas is reported to say.

Gene Clark - recordings
1966: Gene Clark - If I Hang Around (Gene Clark) (released on the album "v.a. - Byrd Parts 2"; Raven Records RVCD 165)

Gene Clark had to learn that the musicians of his former GENE CLARK GROUP had formed a group of their own. The GOSDIN BROTHERS also were not available so that Gene Clark was forced to form another group. The new GENE CLARK GROUP consisted of Gene Clark, Clarence White, John York and Eddie Hoh. They even recorded one single, which was not released in 1967. The recordings ("The French Girl" and "Only Colombe") can be found on the album "Gene Clark - Echoes".
